Founded in 2002, by Mr. Tao Yang and a core group of biotech/animal nutrition professionals, the aspiration is to build Habio to become a leading Chinese industrial enzyme product company that can compete with the best internationally. Habio Biotechnology had 14 years sustained high growth with hard work and diligent management: from a start up by 6 PhD scientists to a powerful enzyme producer with distribution/support network covering 26 countries; from a single enzyme product to a portfolio of 60 enzymes serving a range of industries including food, environment, industrial processing; from a follower to become an industrial leader in lipase, protease, glucose oxidase, peroxidase.
Habio believes that new technology is the driving force behind the industrial enzyme applications. The company built its core competitiveness on sustained investment in three key technology areas: genetic and protein engineering, enzyme extraction and formulation, industrial enzyme application. Today, Habio has research laboratories in molecular biology, protein engineering and industrial fermentation. The company also built strain bank for 64 different types hydrolytic enzymes. Habio owns 12 Chinese/International issued patents, has led three national 863 research projects. Habio was named “National High-Tech enterprise”. The Habio Mianyang production facility was built with >100 million RMB investment, it has annual fermentation capacity of 8,000 metric tons and 25,000 metric ton finished enzyme product capacity. The facility can produce a full range of enzymatic products including powder, particulate, encapsulated, liquid and immobilized formulations. Habio has long term collaborative relationship with many leading research institutions such as Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences, Sichuan Agriculture University, Sichuan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Korean National Academy of Life Sciences.
